Clara Jean Claus, 86, of Wooster, was called home on Monday, June 15, 2020, at OSU Medical Center in Columbus after a brief illness.
Clara was born Oct. 24, 1933, in Woodsfield to the late Harry and Mary (Thomas) Bright and was a 1950 graduate of Woodsfield High School.
On Dec. 10, 1955, she married Alvin V. Claus and they shared nearly 65 years together. They had made their home near Moreland since 1957 and Clara retired from Rubbermaid Inc. after 28 years of service. She was a member of Moreland United Methodist Church and had been a former Cub Scout Leader. Clara enjoyed quilting, baking, gardening and working in her flowerbeds and she will be missed.
Surviving are her husband, Alvin; children and their spouses, Debbie and Doug Snell and Dennis and Sandy Claus, both of Wooster; grandchildren, Walker (Tyler) Claus, Jarrod (Meghan) Snell and Jessica Snell; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Aiden, Ellie and Milah Snell; brothers, Paul (Ruth) Bright, of Ashland, Richard (Karen) Bright, of Millersburg, Ralph (Vicki) Bright, of Lucas, and Ronald (Claudia) Bright, of Ashland; sisters, Wilda Paden, of Paden City, West Virginia, and Janet (David Weyer) Clark, of Ashland; and many nieces and nephews.
Clara was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Nick Claus and Cassandra and Christina Snell; brothers, Robert, Don, David and Harry Byron Bright; and a sister, Donna Lou Bright.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2020, at the Moreland United Methodist Church with Pastor Steve Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Moreland Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2020, at the church. Please practice personnel safety and distancing during this time.
