Darrol C. “Bud” Byers, 86, of Woodsfield, passed away Friday, Oct. 28, 2022, at the WVU Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, West Virginia.
He was born near Low Gap on Oct. 4, 1936, a son of the late Kenneth and Lena Cline Byers.
He was a former construction worker and was a former teacher at Swiss Hills Vocational School near Woodsfield, having taught carpentry. After his retirement from teaching he focused his talents in the oil and gas wells.
He was also a member of the Woodsfield Church of Christ, Woodsfield.
Bud enjoyed his passion for horses in his spare time and spending time working on his farm.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Byers and Dwight Byers.
Surviving are his wife, Hattie Hines Byers, whom he married on Sept. 2, 1961; one daughter, Camala (Rick) Nye, of Hudson, and her children Madison, Spenser and Lincoln; one son, Eric (Michele) Byers, of Palm City, Florida, and their children, Taylor, J.R. and Brandon.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022, at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield.
Friends will then be received from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. at the Woodsfield Church of Christ, 860 Lewisville Rd., Woodsfield, with Keith Jones and Sam Bartrug officiating.
Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield.
