Emerson E. Gillespie Sr., 79, of Lewisville, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2023, at the Stellar Care Center, Woodsfield.

He was born at Marietta on July 5, 1943, a son of the late Emerson Gillespie and Lucille Miller Jones.

Emerson was a former laborer at the former Watt Car & Wheel, Barnesville, and Wal-Mart, St. Clairsville.

He enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching traffic. He also enjoyed spending time with family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa Carpenter Gillespie.

Surviving are twin daughters, Annette (Christine Brooks) Gillespie, of Fernandina Beach, Florida, Yvette (Michelle) Stotts-Gillespie, of Lakeland, Florida; one son, Eddie (Jennifer) Gillespie, of Lewisville; one sister, Bernie (Ken) Miller, of Woodsfield; one brother, Frank (Bea) Gillespie, of Bellaire; five grandchildren, Zac Gillespie, Ethan Gillespie, Maggie Stotts Gillespie, Cassie Phillips, David Kehl and four great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2023, at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 5, 2023, with Rev. David Cottrell officiating.

Burial will follow in the Crestview Cemetery, Barnesville.
