Eugene L. Hogue, 89 years of age, became Our Gift to God on Aug. 9, 2020, at his residence.
Mr. Hogue was God’s Gift to Us on April 4, 1931, in Akron, the son of the late Leo and Thelma (Fisher) Hogue.
He had been a longtime Mantua resident until moving to Woodsfield in 2007. For 20 years he had been employed at T&L Trucking in Mantua, and also for 30 years as a self-employed truck driver. Mr. Hogue served his country with honor in the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army, and was a member of American Legion Post No. 87 in Monroe County. He had been a former of His Ministry in Aurora, and presently was a member of Jerusalem Methodist Church in Jerusalem. An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed gardening and traveling.
On Dec. 26, 1999, he married Geraldine (Fafrak) Hogue, who survives at their home. Also surviving are his children, Norton Auble, of Uniontown, Doyle (Jane) Hogue, of Mantua, Edward (Carrie) Husarcik, of Arizona, Joseph, Steven and Michael Husarcik, all of Chardon, Sharol (Joe) Showalter, of Akron, Debbie Carson, Kathy (Ken) Blouir of North Carolina, and Gena Hogue, of Virginia. His brother, Robert (June) Hogue, of Copley, 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mae Hogue, in 1998 and his brother, Donald Hogue, in 1960.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, 2020, at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail, at the corner of St. Rt. 44, Mantua, OH 44255, where his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Facial masks and social distancing will be required. Officiating will be Pastor Kevin Stansbury. For those not able to attend the funeral service, procession to the cemetery will form at 10:45 a.m. Final resting place will follow at Westlawn Cemetery, Mantua Township, where full military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard Team, assisted by members of Mantua American Legion Post
