Evelyn Wise, 97, of Wadsworth, formerly of Graysville, passed away Monday, Dec. 5, 2022.

Mary Evelyn Pecek Wise, was born Aug. 26, 1925 at Barberton, a daughter of the late John Pecek and Agnes Centa Pecek. Evelyn was the youngest of eight children, John, Agnes, Julia, Bill, Lucille, Ann and Dorothy, all of whom predeceased her.

Evelyn worked in the fabric department at the Ben Franklin. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and living some of her retirement years at the farm in Graysville and she especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Evelyn married James Bryan Wise, of Graysville, Monroe County, Nov. 14, 1942. Evelyn and Jim lived at their farm in Graysville until his untimely death from injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident on May 11, 1955.

In addition to her siblings, Evelyn was preceded in death by daughter-in-law Kathy Johnson Wise.

She is survived by four children, Karen Sue Wise, Jimmie C. Wise (Diana), Jerry David (Kathy) Wise, and John Edmund (Amy) Wise; grandchildren, Brian James Wise (Tiffany) and their children Braeden and Gavin; John Andrew Wise (Allison) and their son Ethan Hunter Wise; Tami Renee Van Duyne (Kenton) and their children Kaden, Brooklyn and Westin. Also survived by nieces and nephews and former daughter-in-law Nancy Wise Friends were received Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022 at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, 100 S. Paul St., Woodsfield, with Keith Jones officiating. Burial followed in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Graysville.
