“You served with my father in World War II,” Mayor Michael Cox says to Herman Zerger Monday, Sept. 17 during Woodsfield Village Council’s regular meeting. Cox and council recognized Zerger during their meeting.

In June of 1942, at only 18 years of age, Woodsfield’s American patriot Herman Zerger enlisted in the U.S. Army.

Zerger did this to serve his country and he did so bravely and with honor.

Darlene Baldwin and Ila Jean Baldwin attended the commencement for Chelsea Robinson at Muskingum University in New Concord, OH.  There were 350 graduates in the class.

We received word that our Aunt Patsy Baker of Indianapolis, IN spent a couple days in the hospital. She is home now and is doing well.

Ohio Valley ESC and Ohio ESC Assocation Recognizes Top Scholar

On April 15, 2015, the Ohio Educational Service Center Association (OESCA) recognized 80 of Ohio’s top students from across the state during the 26th Annual Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Awards Program. Ciara Smith, a senior at Monroe Central High School, was the Monroe County winner from the Ohio Valley Educational Service Center.

Riesbeck's Gives Back to 4-H Endowment

Bob Burkhart, (second from left) Assistant Store Director of the Woodsfield Riesbeck’s Food Market, recently announced the Sausage & Ribeye Benefit held on May 15th raised $3,000 for the Monroe County 4-H Endowment.  The 4-H Endowment Committee helped Riesbeck’s employees serve sausage and ribeye sandwiches at the event and appreciates the community’s support.
