They are awful busy this year, but Santa and Mrs. Claus made time to come to Monroe County Saturday, Dec. 2 to help area residents get in the Christmas spirit during the annual Monroe County Chamber of Commerce Christmas Festival.

Monroe County Engineer Amy Zwick met with the Monroe County Commissioners Monday, Dec. 4 regarding road repair access right of way agreements but spent the majority of the meeting trying to negotiate ways to keep the roads safe despite the lack of funding afforded by the new budget.

Eileen A. Schilling, age 82, of Clarington, passed away Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, at the Wetzel County Hospital, New Martinsville, West Virginia.

She was born Jan. 2, 1935, in Noble County, a daughter of the late Alexander and Clare Nau Hupp.
