In June of 1942, at only 18 years of age, Woodsfield’s American patriot Herman Zerger enlisted in the U.S. Army.

Zerger did this to serve his country and he did so bravely and with honor.

Herman Lee Mellott, 71, of Beallsville, passed away Friday, Aug. 31, 2018, in Wheeling Hospital. 

He was born Oct. 5, 1946, in St. Clairsville, a son of the late Roscoe Merle and Alma Jane Reed Mellott. 

~ Thelma June Hartline ~

Thelma June Hartline, age 83, of Clarington, formerly of Belpre and Antioch, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018, at her home. 

She was born June 22, 1935, in New Martinsville, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Grover and Sarah Maury Winland.

Descendants of Russell and Ada (McVey) Griffin will hold the 55th annual family reunion at the Graysville High School gym, on the usual 3rd Sunday of September (this year the 16th).
