“I was out here 21 years ago,” said Switzerland of Ohio Schools District Treasurer Connie Kress during a tour of Swiss Hills Career Center at the Feb. 13 school board meeting. “This place hasn’t changed in 21 years.”

Monroe County could have a much clearer Geographic Information System (GIS) map this year thanks to a team effort spearheaded by Monroe County Tax Map Supervisor Corey Stollar, Auditor Pandora Neuhart and Engineer Amy Zwick.

Switzerland of Ohio’s top spellers for 2018

On Tuesday, Jan. 23, the Switzerland of Ohio Schools held the District Spelling Bee. There were students representing all five of the elementary schools. Students competed and won spots from their School Bees in order to compete at the District Bee.

Mattie Booher a seventh-grader from Beallsville Elementary was the overall winner of the District Spelling Bee.

Area Dean’s List announcements

• Andrea Ricer Watson, formerly of Woodsfield, made the Dean’s List for the 2017 Fall Term at the Lurleen B. Wallace Community College. She is the daughter of Kim and Helena Ricer. She is the granddaughter of the late James Frederick and Dorothy Ricer, Barbara Stephen and the late Francis Stephen.
