VFW Post 6387of Matamoras held ceremonies on Memorial Day: at the wharf-the wreath into the Ohio River, met at the World War II monument and at Ferguson Park, speaker David Beaver, lunch at VFW Hall. They traveled to cemeteries at Muskingum Valley Baptist, Rinard Mills, Low Gap and Jericho.

William John Lance, born on December 24, 1920, in Tellico Plains, Tennessee, to the late Ethel G. Lance and the late William M. Lance, passed away at age 97 on June 3, 2018, in Debary, Florida. William served in the Marine Corps in World War II as a Tank Commander in the South Pacific landing on Guadalcanal in 1942.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jane; thee children, Douglas, Nancy and Stephen; two grandchildren, Clara Jane and Jack Stanton Pore. Survived by his sister, Sue (Donald) Bayer (New York) and their families. Predeceased by parents Chester O. and Clara L.

Richard Lee Logston, 76, of Jerusalem, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the Arbors of Woodsfield.

He was born near New Martinsville, West Virginia, on November 14, 1941, a son of the late Thomas E. and Vera Fankhauser Logston.

Worley Emory Berisford, age 102, of Zanesville, died peacefully on Friday, June 15, 2018. He was born February 9, 1916, in Wetzel County, West Virginia, to Albert and Retta (Smith) Berisford. He graduated in 1934 from Magnolia High School in New Martinsville, and attended West Liberty College.
