Snow and ice will be here sooner than we’d like to think and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) wants to make sure it is ready to keep state routes cleared in Monroe County.

Monroe County employees and the county could soon be paying up to 50 percent higher health insurance fees if the current plan is renewed under the same terms for 2019.

Shirley Diane McCaslin, age 60, of Woodsfield, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018, at Wheeling Hospital after a brief illness.  

She was born in Monroe County on July 5, 1958, a daughter of Lloyd Henthorn, of Sardis, and the late Grace Morris Henthorn.

Gary Lee Dailey, 71, of Woodsfield, passed away Monday, Oct. 15, 2018, at the Astoria Place of Barnesville.

He was born in Caldwell, on June 24, 1947, a son of the late Herzel and Eunice Freitag Dailey.

John and Bess Lusk are the owners of Whispering Ridge Tree Farm, which was recently named the 2018 Ohio Tree Farm of the Year. Whispering Ridge Tree Farm is located in Monroe County in eastern Ohio, and people are invited to attend a public field day at their farm from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20.
