Instead of loading their backseats with bad guys Friday, June 15, cruisers from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and Woodsfield Police Department were loaded with dog food and toys.

Several steep flights of stairs and ladders, interspersed as a winding network of passages, required a firm handhold and barely permitted four grown men to pass to the roof of the courthouse Monday, June 18.

A vacant 10-acre lot next to Woodsfield Savings Bank on State Route 78 west of Woodsfield is the future home of an expanded Ohio Hills Health Services medical facility.

An expanded medical center will soon break ground in Woodsfield according to Woodsfield Village Council member Tom Kirkland and Ohio Hills Health Services CEO Jeff Britton.

Kirkland announced the upcoming project during the Woodsfield Village Council meeting Monday, June 18.

Chamber of Commerce Holds Annual Dinner

The adopted slogan of the Monroe County Chamber of Commerce over the last two years has been “Making a difference in Monroe County.” That slogan was in full force during the group’s annual dinner on March 27 as two county residents were honored as “Citizens of the Year” and another business leader received the “Making a Difference” award.

Current Powhatan Elementary Principal Casey Tolzda will be reassigned, while new hires include Josh Ischy and Bob Medlyn.
