Monroe County Auditor Pandora Neuhart brought her concerns about the money the county is spending at the Care Center to the Monroe County Commissioners’ meeting with management firm LeaderStat Monday, August 6.

John Miller, director of drilling fluid operations for American Mud Works’ new facility in Monroe County, got his start throwing 100-pound bags into a pit 18 hours a day.

The Monroe County Park Board Staff cut the ribbon for the installation of new restroom facilities in a ceremony Saturday, Aug. 4 at Stafford Park. Local history enthusiast John Ogden, who spends much time retracing the steps of Monroe County citizens through the years, said that Stafford Park is a gem.

The Monroe Local High School will open its basketball season Nov. 5 with a preview at Lewisville. The main feature will be a game between Earl Baker’s all-star P.T.L. team and Don Cobb’s high scoring faculty team.

  In memory of a husband, dad and grandpa, L. Dale Antill, 1935-2014. Dale and Norma Dye Jean Antill were married November 12, 1955. This November 12, 2014 would have been 59 years. Vets Appreciation Concert Scheduled

A Veterans Appreciation Concert will be held on Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s Church on South Main St. in Woodsfield. Patriotic songs and stories will be led by The Lazy River Dixieland Band; The Monroe Singers; and Bob Welsh, Poet and Master Storyteller. Light refreshments will be served. There will be no admission fee but a free will.

Powhatan Elementary Hosted Haunted House as Fundraiser

Powhatan Elementary recently hosted a Haunted House at the school. The event was sponsored by the PTO and raised $1,368.00 in one night. The event included a “trunk or treat” in the parking lot prior to the haunted house, as well as concessions, games, and prizes. Many volunteers from the community and the PTO pitched in to help make the event a success.

One Year Anniversary

Brad and Brandy Ady celebrated their one year anniversary on November 2, 2014. They were united in marriage on November 2, 2013 at the United Methodist Church of Woodsfield, with Darla Schnegg officiating.

Brandy is the daughter of  Donald & Kristi Wiles of Beallsville, Ohio. 

Bradford is the son of the late Henry & Ruth Ady of Clarington, Ohio.
