George L. Stanley Jr., 92, of Woodsfield, Ohio, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Trustwell Living Westwood Place, Woodsfield.
 He was born at Chesapeake, W.V., on October 1, 1932, a son of the late George L. Stanley Sr. and Bertha Glancey Stanley.
 George was a retired employee of Ormet Corporation, Hannibal, Ohio, and a former employee of Army Corp. of Engineers, Marietta, Ohio. He was also a U.S. Air Force veteran serving during the Korean Conflict and was a member of First United Methodist Church, Woodsfield.
 George enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time.
 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Jean Pegram.
 Surviving are his wife, Mary Carolyn Stanley, whom he married on April 5, 1957; three brothers, Wayne (Kay) Stanley of Jonesboro, Tenn., David (Sue) Stanley of Beckley, W.V., Allen (Jo) Stanley of Live Oak, Fla.; one sister, Betty (John) Flowers of Shady Spring, W.V.; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
 Friends will be received at Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78, Woodsfield, from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
 Private graveside services will follow for the family only at Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield, with Rev. David Cottrell officiating.
