Harry E. Howell, Jr., 72, of Beallsville, fought a long hard battle with throat cancer and went on to be with his Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2023, at The James Cancer Hospital.
Harry was born on Aug. 25, 1950, to the late Harry E. and Ruth (West) Howell.
He resided for all of his years in the lovely town of Beallsville, enjoying the hills and many friends that he had there.
Harry is survived by his six nieces and nephews, Ruth White, of Bowling Green, Angela (Scott) Hopkins, of Windham, Connecticut, Laura Howell, of Findlay, Aaron (Kelly) Howell, of Tiffin, Jason (Misty Runion) Howell, of Tiffin, and Gina Howell, of Tiffin; nine great-nieces and nephews; six greatgreat nieces and nephews; his ex-wife, Jennifer Howell; and many close cousins.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Arthur, Elmer and Clyde Howell, and a sister, Faye Hopton.
Harry worked many years doing double duty as a dairy farmer and heavy machinery operator. He later owned his own excavating business, which thrived in southern Ohio. Harry was a lifelong member of the Mt. Zion Church of Christ. He enjoyed racing horses, living off the land, watching movies, a good belly laugh, time with his family and especially his dogs.
There will be no visitation held at this time. Burial and a graveside service will be held on a later date, at the Beallsville Cemetery in Beallsville.
