HELEN EILEEN STROHMEYER

Helen Eileen Strohmeyer, 94, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away to her home in heaven, Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2022, at her daughter and son in-law’s home.

She was a very sweet and faithful woman who loved the Lord and her family. Mom had a welcoming, loving countenance; kind to all she met. She made people laugh with her funny little quips.

She was born onAugust 21, 1927, in Clarington, to John and Alice (Roth) Meyer. She was raised on and worked at the family farm while she was growing up along with her parents and siblings.

Helen graduated from Clarington High School on May 17, 1946. She attended the Steubenville Ohio School of Cosmetology from 1946-1947 and graduated on June 30, 1947. She was associated with her sister, Mrs. Frances Stegena of Frances E. Beauty Salon in Steubenville.

Helen was united in marriage to Kenneth Strohmeyer on Sept. 7, 1957 at Lincoln Ave. Methodist Church in Shadyside. They moved to Northlake, Illinois and later to Chicago. She was a devoted stay at home mom, wife, and involved with the Grace United Methodist Church of Logan Square. She also volunteered at Luther High School North Thrift Shop. She was involved with CAPS, a Chicago community policing initiative and attended their meetings with her husband. She also helped Ken with his many gardening endeavors.

Helen left the city, came to Iowa Falls, Iowa in December of 2019 and moved in with her daughter and family. She was so happy to be with family at the end of her life. She enjoyed playing cards, watching Lawrence Welk, watching fireworks, Christmas lights and displays and listening to Gospel Hymns by Alan Jackson.

Helen is survived by her children, Frances (Tom) Campbell of Iowa Falls, Iowa, and John Strohmeyer of Newton, Iowa; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Craig; five brothers and two sisters.

No local services will be held at this time. Counsell Woodley Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Iowa Falls assisted the family with cremation care.
