HOMER E. WINLAND

 Homer E. Winland, 87, of Broken Arrow, Okla., formerly of Brownsville, Ohio, passed away January 7, 2025, at Clare House, Tulsa, Okla. He was born in Antioch, Ohio, on May 9, 1937, a son of the late Alva Franklin and Ople Elsie Henthorne Winland.
 He belonged to American Legion 2025 and VFW Post 10887. Gene trained dogs while in Germany for the Army. He had his own garage repair tire and recap shop in Brownsville. He was a coach for a men’s ball team. Gene always was a mechanic for himself. He owned and operated his milk trucks for years and then a long haul over-the-road truck driver which he shared with his wife for many years. Then they settled in Florida and he worked at Walmart Distribution center as a mechanic before retiring. He was baptized December 29, 2024, at Church of Christ, Tulsa.
 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Michael Franklin Winland; granddaughter Janice Christine Kiggans; son-in-law Daniel Bryan Kiggans; brothers Virgil Winland, Leonard (Bud) Winland, and Floyd Winland; sisters Betty June Csuhta, and Wanda Rush.
 He is survived by his wife of 67 years whom he married on December 7, 1957, Janet Pearl Pool Winland, Broken Arrow; sons Mark Allen Winland, La Grange, Ky., Mitchell Eugene (Pamela) Winland, Broken Arrow; daughters Cassandra Pearl (David) Earley, New Matamoras, Ohio, Cindy Diane Kiggans, New Matamoras; brother Frank (Carol) Winland, Graysville, Ohio; sisters Wilda Groves, Massillon, Ohio, Ruby Hupp, Florida, Nancy Craig, Woodsfield, Ohio; and 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
 Friends and family will be received from 6 – 8 p.m. Friday January 17, 2025 and funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, Woodsfield, with Tim Fleeman officiating. Burial will follow at German Lutheran Cemetery, Brownsville, Ohio.
