Tari Lohrey remembered the day her son Bryn came home and said, “Mom, I’m going to be a fireman.”

“He wasn’t afraid of anything,” Tari Lohrey said. “He (worked) a lot of accidents. He was willing to tackle anything. He loved to help people.”

Monroe County officials sat in on a conference call and online demonstration Monday, Feb. 27 for a potential replacement for the county’s all-call system.

The Monroe County Chamber of Commerce welcomed its newest member Friday, Feb. 24, as Brice Safreed joined the group.

A Monroe County native, Safreed plans to begin operating an insurance agency in the Woodsfield area within the next year.

Future River Pilots

GMN Sardis Head Start visited River Elementary on Wednesday, Feb. 22nd. The students were lead on a tour of the school by Dustin Ferguson. They participated in activities in both kindergarten classrooms at River Elementary School. The students went to gym where they played games with a parachute and they also learned a song in music class.

Rebecca miracle

Rebecca S. Miracle, 62, of Lakeland, Florida (formerly of Clarington, Ohio) passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center, Lakeland Florida.

She was born in New Martinsville, West Virginia on August 15, 1954 a daughter of the late Leroy and Eleanor Fry Hyer.

Mary Jean (Brestle) Loveday, 71, of Columbus, passed away on Feb. 21, 2017.

Mary Jean was born on March 6, 1945 in Barnsville and grew up in Woodsfield, the eldest child of William Potter and Helen (Poehlman) Brestle, both deceased.

charles mcintire

Charles G. McIntire, age 83, of Clarington, OH died Monday February 27, 2017 at Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, WV.

He was born December 17, 1933 in Clarington, OH, the son of the late Allan and Essie Roberts McIntire.

Floyd Sole jr.

Floyd L. Sole, Jr., 88 of Clarington, formerly of Middlebourne, departed this life Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, in the Arbors of Woodsfield.

He was born Feb. 20, 1929, in Wheeling, West Virginia, the son of the late Floyd L. and Claudia Weekley Sole.
