The morning of May 15 found the Monroe County Commissioners viewing Township Road 204 in Switzerland Township.

Monroe Central High School will be the transformed into Monroe County’s newest art house Saturday, May 20 as it will host Fine Arts Day. Art projects completed throughout the year will be on display and the drama students will perform “Dancing at Lughnasa” that evening.

Monroe Central High School art teacher Paula Ring knows there are some talented students at her school.

That talent isn’t limited to Ring’s class though, as she recognizes the accomplishments throughout the fine arts department at the high school.

“Always be thankful. You will never be successful alone,” said Dr. Lindsey Romick-Rosendale, recipient of the Distinguished Graduate Award, during the Kiwanis Club 59th Scholastic Recognition Banquet May 15 at Swiss Hill Career Center.

Krempasky earns Doctoral Degree

Dr. Kelsey Ann Krempasky graduated on May 7, 2017, from The Ohio State University College of Optometry, with a Doctoral Degree in Optometry. She was among 11,742 students graduating from The Ohio State University at the “Shoe” in Columbus, Ohio. This year’s class was the largest in history to graduate from The Ohio State University.

West Liberty University held its Spring 2017 Commencement at 11 a.m., May 13 in the Academic, Sports and Recreation Center (ASRC). The following is a list of local graduates:

Bill and Debbie Covert of Woodsfield announce the up and coming marriage of their son Jason Covert to Micha Jendrusik, daughter of Michalle Jendrusik, of Flushing.

Jason is a graduate of Belmont Technical College with a degree in Information Technology. He is employed as a pipeliner.
