Linda Ruth Schmitt, 78, of Marietta passed at 9:59 p.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
 She was born on September 9, 1945, in Middletown, Ohio, to Verley L. Treadway and Laura E. Dietz Treadway. Linda’s main love was being a mother and homemaker. She had owned and operated a sewing shop in Waterford and had been a police dispatcher in Beverly.
 On August 4, 1962, she married Robert W. “Bob” Schmitt who survives with children: Timothy W. (Vicki) Schmitt of Barlow, Sheri L. Schmitt of Waterford and Heather D. Schmitt-Clark of Belpre; six grandsons and five great-grandsons and a few she considered granddaughters. She is also survived by siblings: Alberta, Jerry and Bonnie.
 She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Mary, Jimmy, Joyce and Carl.
