Sheriff’s Office nabs two drug abusers

Monroe County Sheriff Charles Black announced that two alleged drug abusers were taken into custody in separate incidents last week.

According to Black, at around 10:30 p.m. Thursday, April 5, his office received reports of a male subject passed out in the parking lot at Vista Apartments in Beallsville.

Deputy Andrew Ridley approached the vehicle and tried to wake the subject, who was identified as 29-year-old Lerod W. Riggs, of St. Clairsville.

Riggs was unresponsive during the first few attempts to rouse him, but was eventually stirred after Ridley pounded on the window.

When Riggs rolled down the window, Ridley noticed the strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.
