Mary N. Valentine, 87, of New Matamoras died Thursday September 12, 2024, in Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born on April 29, 1937, in New Martinsville, W.V., the daughter of Howard Monroe and Clarise Odessa Jones Ball.
 She graduated from River High School in 1955 and was a Clerk for the Monroe County Welfare office in Woodsfield, Ohio. She also had been a correspondent for the Monroe County Beacon and was an owner of Valentine Greenhouse in New Matamoras.
 On September 10, 1955, she married Dale Cochran Valentine who preceded her in death. Surviving her are two sons, Terry Valentine of Columbus and Larry Valentine (Gay Michelle) of New Matamoras and one daughter Susan Paschen (Gary) of Belpre; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Litzinger (Joe), Seth Valentine (Chelsi), Lance Valentine (Ashley), Grant Valentine, Elizabeth Clippinger (Phillip), Matthew and Benjamin Mason and four great-grandchildren, Joey and Penny Litzinger, Adilynn and Ayden Valentine; three sisters, Patti Cunningham, Geraldine Petersen and Helen Wyckoff.
 She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Duane and Dwight Ball.
 Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 16, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Hadley Funeral Home in New Matamoras with David Beaver officiating.
 Burial will be made in Matamoras Cemetery.
