Entertaining options for future of Monroe Theatre Mar. 25
A presentation and discussion about the future development of the Monroe Theatre will take place at the Monroe Arts and Visitors Center on Saturday, March 25 at 10 a.m. followed by a tour of the historic theatre.
In June of 2016, the Monroe Arts Council acquired the former Monroe Theatre in Woodsfield. This acquisition was made possible through the generous gifting of the structure by Gary and Nancy Rubel. The building, although structurally sound, will require major renovations before being utilized.
A steering and planning committee is being formed to assess the potential and move the project forward. County leaders, positive voices, and residents from around the county are invited to this meeting to brainstorm and scope out direction for the theatre.
Many communities around this country have been able to revitalize their communities by focusing on their quality of life through arts and tourism; many of these revitalizations began with a historic theatre. Monroe County is no different.
