Hannibal Locks and Dam Visitors’

Center reopens

Years of work and dedication from many local businesses and volunteers came to fruition July 2 as the Visitors’ Center at the Hannibal Locks and Dam was officially reopened. A crowd of about 150 people gathered to celebrate the occasion. The site had been closed since Sept. 11, 2001, when security concerns following the attacks on the World Trade Center forced its closure. Prior to closure, the visitors’ center brought in nearly 10,000 visitors per year.
