Former Olympian shares mental health struggles

Awareness and early intervention and can save lives

Three years after Amy Gamble, a John Marshall High School graduate from Sherrard, West Virginia, struggled with suicidal thoughts, she walked into a stadium and became an Olympic athlete.

Today she spends a lot of her energy sharing her story as she did at the Monroe County Senior Center in an event sponsored by the Monroe County Suicide Prevention Coalition in honor of Suicide Prevention Awareness Day on Saturday, Sept. 8.
