Moundsville man arrested for taking gun to PTA meeting

A Moundsville man was taken into custody after he allegedly brought a firearm to a PTA meeting Jan. 25 at River Elementary School.

Monroe County Sheriff Charles Black said 40-year-old James Bertrand Kawasaki was charged with illegal conveyance of a possibly deadly weapon on school property, a fifth-degree felony, following the incident.

Black said his department had been alerted by teachers at the school who were concerned Kawasaki had previously brought a gun into the building.
