Preserving local heritage at Springfest
Christine Crowell’s favorite dish at Switzer Community Heritage Springfest by far, she said, was the Sauerbraten, which is sweet and sour beef, with gingersnaps and onions.
“It’s the only thing I eat all day here,” she said with a smile. “I love it.”
Crowell served heritage Swiss, German and English dishes such as sauerkraut, Isaly’s Chopped Ham, and Isaly’s Swiss Cheese at the event, which took place Saturday, June 9 at St. John’s United Church of Christ near Powhatan.
