Prom Promise: don’t drive drunk or distracted!

“Wake up! Wake up!”

Blood-curdling screams filled the air as hysterical teenagers emerged into piles of glass and dirt surrounding two stacked cars in a mock accident staged at Monroe Central High School Friday, May 4.

Principal Joe Semple, the drama team, and first responders from around the county were giving students an up-close-and-personal lesson about the possible consequences of drunk and distracted driving. Unfortunately, Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputy Joe Kress told students, this year’s “Prom Promise” was modeled similarly to an actual scenario that had just occurred three weeks prior on Route 7.
