Boyd Lee Vaness, 78, of Beallsville, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2022, at Peterson Hospital Wheeling, West Virginia.

He was born Nov. 22, 1943, in Monroe County a son of the late George and Arminda Mae Vaness.

Boyd was a 1964 graduate of River High School. He was a member of the Church of Christ, a U.S. Army veteran and a retiree of Ormet Corp. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going to auctions and flea markets.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Shirley (Lucas) Vaness; twin sister, Betty Chrostowski; along with six other sisters, Hazel Martin, Zelda Ruckman, Stella Ady, Gladys Maury, Margaret Ady, and Martha Holiday; and two brothers, Emerson Vaness and Paul Vaness.

He is survived by his son, Mark (Pam) Vaness, of Beallsville; daughter, Lora Cox (Richard Haney), of Beallsville; four grandchildren, Ashlie Vaness (Gary Childress), Josh Cox (Kelsey LaFollette), Devon (Katey) Knowlton, and Dustin Knowlton; three great-grandchildren, Emma, Waylon, and Jentry; three siblings, Ray Vaness, Ralph (Sue) Vaness, and Sylvia (Frank) Hoke; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends were received Monday, Sept. 19, 2022, at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home Woodsfield, where funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022, with Keith Jones officiating.

Burial followed in the Cameron Cemetery Cameron, with full military graveside service.
