C. Gary Smittle, 89, of Sardis, Ohio, died Tuesday, October 29, 2019, at Genesis Health Care Center New Martins-ville, West Virginia.

He was born April 6, 1930 in Sardis, a son of the late Clark Jess and Samantha Ann Rush Smittle.

He was a retired general foreman at Conalco in Hannibal and a member of Church of Christ and the Hole In One Club at Riverside Golf Course, Sardis. He loved animals and playing golf.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Gano Smittle, and six sisters, Modjeska Anderson, Sarah Bowen, Gaynell VanCamp, Jeanette Foutty, Clara Morris and Marilyn Lively.

Survivors include a son, Gary (Carol) Smittle, and a daughter, Yvonne (Terry) Weber, both of Sardis; five grandchildren, Barry (Candy) Grimes of Sardis, Brett (Amanda) Grimes of Sardis, Brandon Grimes of Loudonville, Stephanie (Matt) Hoover of Woodsfield, and Alyson (Michael) Cochran of Reader, West Virginia; 11 great-grandchildren, Derek, Kyle, Logan, Dillon, Megan, Mylee, Brielle, Ambie, Sydney, Avery and Nolan; four great-great-grandchildren, Ava, Kinsley, Ryder and Kenzlee; his faithful companion, Fuzzy; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 2 at Sardis Cemetery, with Jim Miller officiating.
