Doris Pearl Smith
Doris Pearl Smith, 87, of Woodsfield, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2020, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born in Hannibal, Monroe County, on August 5, 1932, the third daughter of the late Judge Forrest D. and Grace McFarland Pfalzgraf.
Doris was a homemaker. She was known to many as Nan Nan. After her husband’s retirement, they enjoyed attending their grand and great-grandchildren’s sporting events, and loved going to auctions, yard selling and collecting glassware. Doris was a Christian by faith and was confirmed and baptized into the First United Methodist Church, Woodsfield.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Kenneth Cline Smith, just 123 days ago on Nov. 19, 2019; along with two sisters, Lois Evelyn Orr and Grace Eileen Hutchison.
She is survived by three daughters, Trudy (Sherman) Pyles, Janet Smith and Sue (Alex) Triggs, all of Woodsfield; three grandchildren, Stacey (Roman) Lori, Marlena (Brian) Kress, Joshua Merckle; three great-grandchildren, Bede, Gwyneth and Aubrey; her one remaining sister, Joyce Jean Porter of Atlanta, Georgia; a very special nephew, Mitchell Weber of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee; nieces, Sandy and Jeannie of Canton; a brother-in-law, Ralph Gene Smith of Newark; sister-in-law, Emily Ann (Donald) Hartshorn of Woodsfield; and several more.
