Edwin Wendell “Eddie” Bartilson, Jr., 80, of Columbia, Missouri passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020.

A Memorial Service was held Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020, at Fairview Road Church of Christ, Columbia, Missouri.

Eddie was born April 23, 1940, in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Edwin Sr. and Mildred Wareham Bartilson.

As a young man, he served as a volunteer fireman, then served in the U.S. Army from 1960-1962.

On April 28, 1963, he married Jean Ault in Woodsfield. He worked many years for Scotch Plaid Inc., and retired as warehouse manager. He and Jean moved to Columbia, Missouri in 2005 to be closer to family.

He was very active in his church, taking many opportunities to teach, mentor and serve others; filling many roles such as preacher, deacon and elder. Ed loved working with youth and teens. He had a positive personality and a friendly smile. He was known for his great sense of humor and storytelling, and was always sure to personally thank any service member he came across. He was a great husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, of 57 years, Jean; four children, Jeffrey (Sarah) Bartilson, of Searcy, Arkansas, Randy (Carol) Bartilson, of Woodbury, Tennessee, Teresa Hendrickson of Columbia, Missouri, and Tiffany (Andrew) Lough of Columbia, Missouri; three brothers, William (Ruth) Bartilson, of Akron, Matt (Mary) Bartilson, of Hilliard, and David Bartilson, of Southfield, Michigan; 15 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and many friends and family for whom he cared greatly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a granddaughter, Sydney Lough.
