Fred W. McConnell Jr., 70, of Woodsfield, passed away Friday, February 1, 2019, at his home. He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio, on January 10, 1949, a son of the late Fred W. McConnell, Sr. and Phyllis Flynn McConnell.

He retired with 40 years of service with Monroe Auto Parts. He was a member of the Cameron Church of Christ, was an avid Ohio State fan, loved his grandkids and had a great love for animals.

Fred’s final gift was being an organ tissue eye donor to the Center for Organ Recovery and Education.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Dean Keevert, and sister-in-law, Susan Mc-Connell.

He is survived by his wife Joyce Bertschy Mc-Connell, of Woodsfield; son, Craig (Monica) Mc-Connell, of Woodsfield; daughter, Kayla McConnell, of Dayton; brother, Mack McConnell, of Sardis; sisters, Dorothy Keevert, of Woodsfield, and Beverly Brown of Las Vegas, Nevada; four grandchildren, Hunter, Tristan, Nicholas, and Adrian; and his beloved pet and best buddy, Rusty.

Friends received from 4 – 8 p.m. Tuesday February 5, 2019 at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home Woodsfield, Ohio. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
