George Willis Turner Jr, 94, of Woodsfield, passed away peacefully in his sleep Sunday, June 13, 2021, at his home.

He was born at Armstrong Mills, on January 28, 1927, a son of the late George Sr. and Effie Weil Turner.

He was a retired Ohio Bell employee, and former owner of Clarington Communications. He was a U.S. Army Airborne Veteran of World War II and member of the American Legion Post 760 of Hannibal. He was a member of the Clarington Church of Christ.

George enjoyed his family, reading, crossword puzzles, and The Monroe County Senior Center, where he could be found engaged in a game of euchre. One of his favorite sayings was “I have lived a good life, anything I get from here on out is gravy”.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Burns Turner, a brother, Foy Turner, a sister, Betty Lee, and a brother-in-law Robert Lee.

Surviving are a brother, Paul (Judy) Turner, of Clarington; a sister-in-law Ila Turner, of Clarington; a sister-in-law Joan (Vic) Meece; two sons, Jack (Patty) Turner, of Woodsfield, Sam (Kristie) Turner, of Senecaville. Four grandsons, Jason (Tiffany Goltz) Turner, Jonah (Lauren) Turner, Jordon (Reilly) Turner, Joshua (Kate Davis) Turner; one granddaughter Jessica (Brady) White; two great granddaughters, Rylee Turner and Ella White; three great grandsons, Brantley, Finnick and Noah Turner; and a third great granddaughter coming in August.

A Celebration of Life with Military Honors will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2021, at the Woodsfield Church of Christ.
