Harry L. Merckle, age

85, of Sardis, Ohio, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2019, at Arbors of Woodsfield.

He was born March 15, 1933, in Sardis, the son of the late William and Anna Gualdeman Merckle.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, a retired Mill Operator at Ormet Rolling Mill and a member of Mount Olive United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Amanda Merckle; two sons, David (Kathy) Merckle of Follansbee, West Virginia, and Gale (Cindy) Merckle, of Sardis; one daughter, Misty Merckle, of Zanesville; five sisters, Thelma Beaver of Beaver-town, Mary Shockley of Loudenville, Vera Cronin of Weirton, West Virginia, Faye Tarr of King, North Carolina, and Rose Ann Briole of Murphy, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Karissa Merckle of Weirton, West Virginia, Kadrian Merckle of Toronto, Jesse Merckle, of Sardis, Alex and Austin Adams of Warsaw.

Family received friends Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Grisell Funeral Home, 37234 Mound St. Sardis, where services were held Monday at 1 p.m.

Interment followed at Mount Olive Cemetery.
