Howard Gallaher, 81 of Powhatan Point, died Sunday March 31, 2019, at Wheeling Hospital.
He was born March 31, 1938, a son of the late Clifford and Ruth (Cronin) Gallaher in Powhatan Point.
Howard worked for North American Coal #5 Mine as a mechanic and at D & K Excavating as a mechanic and operator. He was a member of Moriah Lodge #105.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Norma Gail (Brown) Gallaher; a brother, Forest Gallaher; sisters, Wilma Lodi, Vera Horvath and Betty Coss; and a grandson, David Pritchard.
He is survived by his children, Mark (Suzie) Gallaher, of Belmont, Tammy ( Bruce Stephen) Deitch, of Woodsfield, and Jim (Lovella) Beal, of Lafferty. In addition he is survived by a sister, Wanda Glasgow, of Powhatan Point; grandchildren, Kayla (Taven Rohrbough) Deitch, Cody (Kayla) Pritchard, Daniel Pritchard, Tasha Beal, Santana McBride, Lesley DeAnne Beal and John Keim; along with 11 great-grandchildren, Madison, Bo, Kirsten, Adhalyn, Kayelyn, Kira, Aamaya, Easton, Dawson Breanna, Leeland and one more on the way, as well as friend Belinda Myers..
Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2019, at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory, 186 Main St., Powhatan Point, on and again from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2019, with Masonic services held at 7:30 pm. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2019, with Pastor Jeff Eschbaugh officiating. Burial will follow in Powhatan Cemetery.
