Mary Isabelle “Izzy” Kannan passed away Saturday, October 5, 2019, in Parkersburg, West Virginia. She was born in Middlebourne, West Virginia, to Harvey and Mary (Bickerstaff) Haught on November 18, 1920.

In 1940 she married Richard “Coke” Kannan, who passed away August 10, 2005. Izzy, with her husband, owned and managed Kannan’s Variety Store in Paden City, West Virginia for twenty-eight years. She loved making pies and crocheting hats for charity, making hundreds of them.

Surviving are a daughter Christine Heintzman, of Parkersburg, West Virginia, and a sister Ona Robertson, of Irving, Texas.

Izzy was loved by so many. She had the best heart and the most contagious laugh. She touched so many people with her kindness. She will be deeply missed. She requested no services. Burial will be at Green-lawn Memorial Park in New Martinsville, West Virginia.

Because of her kindness, she asks that memorial contributions be made in her name to the Zachary Taylor Trust, 1224 S. Bridge St., New Martinsville, WV 26155, a fund set up to assist with the burial of children.
