Mary L. Sparkman, 93, of Woodsfield, formerly of Summerfield, passed away Friday, Aug. 9, 2019, at the Arbors of Woodsfield.

She was born in Gallagher, West Virginia on Jan. 5, 1926, a daughter of the late Walter and Nancy Daniels Mitchell.

Mary was the owner of the former Sparky’s Carry-Out, near Summer-field, and was a member of the East Union United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Beallsville.

Mary enjoyed playing bingo in her spare time.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Sparkman Sr. on Sept. 2, 1988; a son, Larry A. Sparkman; three brothers, Charles, Walter and Henry Mitchell; two sisters, Iva Mae Mitchell and Marie Heater Lambert; and a grandson, Carl Sparkman.

Surviving are two daughters, Jane Hines, of Cincinnati, and Cheryl Dalton, of Beallsville; three sons, Paul (Pam) Sparkman Jr., of Woodsfield, Tim (Mary) Sparkman, of Summerfield, and Wayne Sparkman of Columbus; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends were received Monday, Aug. 12, 2019, at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, where funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019, with Josh Hetrick officiating.

Burial followed in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield.

Eastern Star services were held Monday, Aug. 12, 2019, at the funeral home.
