ORPHIE MAE BRYTE MEYER

Orphie Mae Bryte Meyer, formerly of Clarington, now of Hannibal, died peacefully at home on Friday, Feb. 1, 2019.

Orphie was born in Captina, West Virginia on Jan. 6, 1929, daughter of the late Earl E. and Genevieve M. Bryte.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Meyer Jr.; three younger sisters, Velma Bryte George, Helen Bryte Dingman and Shella Bryte Ross; and one brother, Robert Bryte.

Survivors include two sons, Gerald E. Meyer (Lynda Rose), of Mill-field, David L. Meyer (Amy), of Shadyside; one daughter, Cathy J. Tisher (Tim), of Hannibal; six grandchildren, Jennifer Meyer Blakley (Chip), of King George, Virginia, Leeanna Meyer Bach (Keith), of Shadyside, Kristi Meyer, of Denver, Colorado, Tiffany Meyer, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, Casey Tisher, of Hannibal, and Kelsie Tisher Schmidt (Jacob), of Spotsylvania, Virginia; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Orphie was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ of German Ridge. She loved talking with friends, completing crossword puzzles, crocheting and quilting for her family, gardening and watching Buckeye football.

There will be a family memorial service to the life of Orphie held later in February at the home of Cathy and Tim Tisher.
