Ola B. (Lane) Loveday, 98, of Newark, passed away Friday, April 21, 2023, at the Randall Residence Assisted Living, Newark.
She was born at Sevierville, Tennessee on Dec. 9, 1924, a daughter of the late Chester and Melinda Atchley Lane.
Ola was a homemaker, devoted Christian, and a member of the First Baptist Church, Woodsfield, where she served as treasurer and Sunday school teacher. As a student, Ola was an avid basketball player, a sport she enjoyed as a spectator all her life. Ola was a quilter, and late in life, she took up art, creating intricate and colorful pencil designs that she enjoyed sharing with family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Ola was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Loveday Sr.; a daughter, Helen Loveday; a son, Gary Loveday; three brothers, William, Chester and Earl Lane; and one sister, Verna Massie.
Surviving Ola are one daughter, Judy Blasch, of Zanesville; two sons, Amos Loveday Jr., of Columbus, and Lamar Loveday, of Woodsfield; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, with Pastor Brian Hardesty officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield.
