Polly Irene Griffith, 47, of Woodsfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 16, 2019, at Liza’s Place in Wheeling, West Virginia. She was born June 1, 1972, in Millersburg, a daughter of Frankie S. Donohue and the late Geneva S. Miller Donohue.
Polly was a graduate of Black River High School in Sullivan, graduate of Ohio University in Athens, and also a graduate of UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Her first career was as a Communications Engineer at Channel 7 in Wheeling, West Virginia. Her ambition was to be a nurse, and after graduating, she worked as a trauma nurse in Pittsburgh, then as a traveling nurse for UPMC. She was a NASCAR and Ohio State Football fan, enjoyed gardening, refurbishing antiques and working on the farm.
She was preceded in death by her mother Geneva S. Miller Donohue.
She is survived by her husband James M. Griffith, of Woodsfield, and her father, Frankie S. Donohue, of Jeromesville.
Friends and family were received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, Woodsfield. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, with Guy Norris officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
