Richard Hardesty Talbott Jr., 92, of New Matamoras, died Tuesday March 3, 2020, in the Arbors at Woodsfield.

He was born Aug. 16, 1927, at Fly, the son of Richard Hardesty Talbott Sr. and Florence Lillian Campbell Talbott.

He had been employed at the Ormet Corporation as a millwright retiring in 1991. He graduated from Matamoras High School in 1945 and was a member of the Millwright Union. He was a U.S. Amy veteran. 

He was first married to Helen Simpson and then to his second wife June Doan Rouse. 

He is survived by one son Richard Hardesty Talbott (Janie), of Navarre, and one daughter Judith R. Talbott (Ron Paczkowsi), of Michigan; two stepsons, Steve Rouse, of New Matamoras, and Craig Rouse, of Tennessee; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one brother, Alan Talbott; and two sisters, Donna S. Lutz and Emily Holdenreid.

He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Rea Talbott; two brothers, Charles and Robert Talbott; and two sisters, Mary Bragg and Barbara Johnson.

Services were held Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at Hadley Funeral Home New Matamoras Chapel, 700 Main St., New Matamoras, with Rev Dennis Williams officiating. Burial followed in the Matamoras Cemetery.

Friends were received prior to the service Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at the funeral home.
