Robert Francis “Bob” Brown, 97, of Jerusalem passed away Monday, December 2, 2024. He was born September 24,1927 in Temperanceville, a son of the late Girdon and Lucille Hanlon Brown. Bob went to school in Temperanceville where he completed 8th grade. He married Leona Carpenter Brown on June 18, 1949 and together they raised four boys, Gary, David, Mike, and Tim. Bob was a hard working husband and father. He enlisted in the Navy in 1945 and served on a transport ship to Japan. He and Leona worked side-by-side on their small dairy farm close to Malaga. After they had moved to Jerusalem, Bob began working as a heavy equipment operator with Ohio Operating Engineers. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and sitting on his patio visiting with friends and family; however his greatest joy came from simply spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren. In addition to his loving wife, Leona, Bob was preceded in death by three sons; Gary, David, and Mike; also by a grandson, Terry; seven brothers, and four sisters. Surviving are his youngest son, Tim Brown (Amy Long); two daughters-in-law, Alice Brown and Mary Brown; 12 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 12 great great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Marlin and Evelena Brown; a sister, Diane Green; also many nephews and nieces. Visitation was held December 5 at the Wilson Funeral Home, Harper Chapel, Beallsville where funeral services were held December 6. Full Military Honors by American Legion Post 768 were conducted and burial followed in Jerusalem Cemetery.
