Samuel A. Stimpert, age 81, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Monday, Aug. 3, 2020, at his home.
He was born on Nov. 17, 1938, in Lewisville, to the late Clarence and Blanche (Denbow) Stimpert.
Samuel was employed at Consolidated Freightways as a Dockman and was known there as “Singin Sam.” He was a minister of music and loved to sing in church. He attended the First Church of the Nazarene here in Mount Vernon. Samuel also enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking but most of all, he loved the time he spent with his family.
He is survived by his son, Mark (Sherrie) Stimpert; his daughter, Crystal (Jeff) VanScyoc; four grandchildren, Emilie (Tony) Miller, Monica (Beau) Lawrence, Melissa (Jason) Stankus, Grant Stimpert; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Samuel was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Stimpert; his brothers, Bobby and Rev. Vernon Stimpert; and his sisters, Mildred Highman and Helen Weber.
Friends were received Friday, Aug. 7, 2020, at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home. A graveside service was held Saturday, Aug. 8, 2020, in Friendship Cemetery in Lewisville.
