Shirley J. Stimpert, 83, of Lewisville, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, March 7, 2020, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born near Baxter, West Virginia, on February 4, 1937, a daughter of the late William and Flota Wright Prickett.
Shirley was a farmer’s wife and helped her husband on the family dairy farm. She was also a former caregiver, helping elderly people in the area. She was a homemaker, a member of the Church of Nazarene, Woodsfield, where she was a former Sunday school teacher. She was also an avid bowler.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Stimpert in 1987; a son, Mark Stimpert; two brothers, Billy and Robert Prickett; a granddaughter, Kristy Friday; a son-in-law, Harold Reynolds.
Surviving are two daughters, Kathy Reynolds of Lewisville, Joyce Stimpert of Woodsfield; five sons, Robert Brent (Penny) Stimpert of Lewisville, Mike (Sue) Stimpert of Malaga, Darrell (Cheryl) Stimpert of Lewisville, Tim (Angie) Stimpert of Lewisville, Jim (Sami) Stimpert of Lewisville; grandchildren that were raised in the home, Bobby (Bridget) Stimpert and Arin (Shane) Hogue; six sisters, Sandra (Richard) Pryor of Barnesville, Betty (Dan) Stimpert of Woodsfield, Flota King of Florida, Donna (George) Warner of Barnesville, Wanda Shumaker of Somerton, Brenda Thompson of Barnesville; three brothers, Burl Prickett of Columbus, Tom Prickett of Lakeland, Florida, Marshall Prickett of Florida; fifteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2020, with Keith Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery, near Lewisville.
