Shirley L. Pittman, 85, of Beallsville, passed away peacefully Friday, April 14, 2023, in Emerald Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Center, Barnesville.

She was born Aug. 4, 1937, in Mead Township in Belmont County, a daughter of the late Bruce and Pearl Rothwell Crooks.

Shirley was a member of the former Mellott Ridge Church of Christ and was presently a member of the Washington Street Church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening and yard work and for years she happily worked side-by-side on the family farm with her devoted husband, the late John A. Pittman. Shirley was a woman of many talents and interests, but anyone who knew her acknowledged that she was happiest simply spending time with her family and her church family.

In addition to her parents and her husband, John, Shirley was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Lisa Price Pittman, and 11 siblings.

Left to cherish her memory are a son, Larry Pittman, of Beallsville (Becky Harlan of Sardis); two grandsons, Jonathan (Morgan) Pittman, of Sarahsville, and Garrett Pittman, of Beallsville; two great-grandsons, Elijah and Asher Pittman; two sisters, Frances Kinzy, of Beallsville, and Garnet Piatt, of Lewisville; also many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Monday, April 17, 2023, at the Wilson Funeral Home, Harper Chapel, where funeral services were conducted Tuesday, April 18, 2023. Burial followed in Beallsville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers and keepsakes, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Washington Street Church of Christ, 52771 Washington St., Beallsville, OH 43716.
