Area teams compete in OVTL meet

Monroe Central, Beallsville and River were in action in an Ohio Valley Track League event Tuesday, March 30 at Shadyside High School.

River finished second on the boys’ and girls’ sides.

The River girls finished with 84 points.

Chloe Honeycutt won the 400 in 1:13.50. She was also third in the 100 and fourth in the 200 and long jump.

Camryn Caldwell won the 800 in 3:02 and was fourth in the 1600.

Mara Beard won the 3200 in 13:18 and was second in the 1600 and third in the long jump.

Also for River, Kim Connors was third in the 300 hurdles and sixth in the 100 hurdles, Karsyn McVey fourth in the shot and Megan Dunn sixth in the 400.

Beallsville’s girls were fifth with 30 points.

Cheyenne Riley led the way for the Lady Blue Devils, winning the 300 hurdles in 57.04 and finishing second in the 100 hurdles.

Shey Osborne won the shot with a throw of 26-2 and was fifth in the discus.

Monroe Central’s girls were sixth with eight points.

Jadyn Stewart was second in the 800.

River’s boys finished with 85 points.

Michael Johnson won the long jump with a leap of 19-0. Johnson was also third in the 100.

Also for River’s boys, Avery Creamer was third in the long jump, Noah Lively third in the shot, Kabel Isaly fourth in the 200, Gideon Hulbert fifth in the 400, Zack Hocutt sixth in the high jump and discus, Austin Creamer sixth in the long jump, Marshal Bier sixth in the shot and Carson Romick sixth in the 800.

Beallsville’s boys were fifth with 30 points.

Brandon Louden won the 100 in 11.58 and 200 in 23.87. He also finished third in the high jump.

Also for Beallsville, Chandler Osborne was fifth in the 1600 and 800.

Monroe Central’s boys were sixth with seven points.

Jayden Craig was fourth in the 800 and sixth in the 1600 and Trenten Cooper was fifth in the 100.

River was also in action Saturday, April 3 at the Bellaire Relays.

River’s girls finished seventh out of eight teams with 29 points.

Honeycutt was second in the long jump and fourth in the 200, Beard third in the 1600 and 3200, Connors was fifth in the 100 hurdles and Caldwell sixth in the 1600

River’s 800 relay team of Connors, Lacey Speece, Tori Headley and Megan Dunn was fifth.

River’s boys were ninth out of 10 teams with nine points.

Johnson was fourth in the long jump.

The 800 relay team of Austin Creamer, Kabel Isaly, Avery Creamer, Clee Mitchell was fifth, the 400 relay team of Islay, Austin Creamer, Avery Creamer and Michael Johnson was fifth, and the shuttle hurdle team of Islay, Maddox Mozena, Mitchell and Talon Ady was sixth.
