Area teams compete at Shadyside
Monroe Central, River and Beallsville were in competition at the Shadyside Relays Saturday, April 15 at Fleming Field in Shadyside.
A challenging field limited points for all three schools, with Monroe Central’s girls finishing 14th with 16 points and River’s finishing 18th with six points. Beallsville failed to score.
Monroe Central was led by Jackie Hayes, who placed in three events.
Individually, Hayes finished fourth in the 400. She also teamed with JoJo Rodriques, Kayla Wall and Ashley Hayes to finish second in the 800 relay and fourth in the 400 relay.
For the Lady Pilots, Cortny Sapp had the best finish, taking fourth place in the high jump.
Also for River, Zoey Miller was fifth in the long jump and Carmen Hinerman sixth in the 300 hurdles.
On the boys’ side, River was the lone team to score at the event, finishing 17th with four points.
For the Pilots, Chase Brown was fourth in the 400.
