Lady Seminoles lead the way at district track meet

Several area athletes will see their season continue as they finished in the top four of last week’s Division III district meet at Newcomerstown High School.

Monroe Central’s girls led the way, finishing in eighth place with 35.5 points.

Four Lady Seminoles qualified for this week’s regional meet at Massillon Perry High School.Preliminaries started Tuesday, May 23 with the finals wrapping up Friday, May 26.

The top four finishers in each event qualify for the state meet, which will be held June 2-3 at Ohio State University’s Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus.

At the district meet, Monroe Central senior Ashley Hayes had the best performance and will move on in four events.

Hayes finished third in the 100 and 200, and was part of two relay teams that finished in the top four. The team of Ashley Hayes, JoJo Rodriques, Kayla Wall and Jackie Hayes finished second in the 400 relay and 800 relay.
