Stacy Thomas Dye, 55 born in North Kingston, R.I., lost his battle with cancer. He has been fighting since 2018.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Dye, Jr.
Surviving is his wife of 21 years, Kim Dye; children, Jeremy Dye, Justin (Cheyanne) Dye, Kelsey (Scott) Duke and DJ (Tessa) Duke; grandchildren, Carlee, Brandon, and Cayden Dye, Emmett, Oakley and Duke McMullen; mother, Terri (Tom) Riggenbach; stepmother, Debbie Dye; brother Chris (Deanna) Simon and nephew, Cody Simon.
Stacy was a life member of VFW Post 9930, where he was the past post commander or quartermaster since 1998. Member of the Beallsville Legion Post 768 and New Martinsville Moose Lodge No. 931.
He loved and appreciated the time he was able to spend with his family and friends. Playing with his grandchildren with dinos, trucks, wiffle ball in the backyard or having the granddaughters paint his nails. Teaching them to fish the creek or farm pond. Didn’t matter what it was, he liked doing it. He enjoyed going fishing, boating, golfing, hunting, helping friends butcher, helping on the family farm when he was able. Taking care of the home place (cabin) where he grew up was a priority for him. Working on his old 68 Ford truck, which was a long-time relationship in itself.
He worked at Ormet, Pittsburgh Air Force base and the Dam at Hannibal.
He was an avid hunter and fly fisherman. He was able to travel and fly fish in some different states over the past year, even competed in a national fly-casting competition. He also had a love for woodworking making the grandbabies their crib and beds. Working with his hands, he was a tinker and a fixer. Always thinking on how to fix things or make them work better.
He retired with twenty-four years in the US Air Force as an Aircraft Mechanic and three years in the US Army as A12C combat engineer bridge unit.
Friends received 1 p.m. until time of service at 5 p.m., Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Jarvis Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge St., New Martinsville. Military rites were conducted at the end of the funeral.
